Klas Achieves Nutanix Certification of VoyagerVM 4.0 to Extend Tactical Edge Operational Performance and Versatility.

Nutanix certification of the VoyagerVM 4.0 rugged server means greater flexibility, capability, and performance for mission operations at the tactical edge. The holistic solution supports faster deployment times and ease of management of resilient and survivable command posts.

Dublin, Ireland, March 18, 2024: Klas, a global edge technology provider, is pleased to announce the certification of its VoyagerVM 4.0 by Nutanix, a leader in hybrid multicloud computing. The VoyagerVM 4.0 is an enterprise-grade rugged server for extreme edge environments, built on the latest Intel Xeon D processor (Ice Lake D). Coupled with Nutanix, the joint solution delivers a software-defined hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) that integrates compute, virtualization, storage, networking, and security to power applications critical for a Common Operating Picture (COP) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR).

“We are proud to partner with Klas to provide rugged, full-stack solutions to support in-theatre communications, CSfC, C5ISR/EW and other mission-critical applications and data vital to mission success,” said Chip George, Vice President, Public Sector at Nutanix. “Like the VoyagerVM 4.0, Nutanix® software is hardened and secure upon delivery, so deployed personnel can get operational quickly to focus on the mission at hand. Especially for austere environments, the simplicity and ease of use of our software means that operators can easily set up and manage this system without needing specialized technical training.”

Engineered rugged, VoyagerVM 4.0 meets the standard for TrueTactical™ – designed to withstand dropping, shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures. The VoyagerVM 4.0 is the only low-swap compute module that supports the latest Intel Xeon D (Ice Lake D) processor, NVMe-based self-encrypting storage, and up to 105 Gigabits per second throughput. The VoyagerVM 4.0 integrated high-speed PCIe Gen4 expansion interface allows for easy reconfiguration by extending the base compute module with graphics processing units (GPUs) or NVMe storage capabilities without needing tools.

“With Nutanix, we are accelerating the ease of distributing high-performance computing and networking in the smallest rugged form factor as part of a modernization of the command post,” said Frank Murray, CTO at Klas. “Our combined hardware and software offering delivers the versatility and scale to decentralize and manage any cloud and application in support of resilient and survivable mobile command posts, especially where connectivity is challenging.”
