Klas Achieves Common Criteria Certification for its Voyager 10GbE Switching Portfolio.

New NIAP Common Criteria (CC) certifications for the VoyagerTDC10G and VoyagerSW12GG demonstrate Klas’ commitment to delivering the highest levels of security at the Intelligent Edge.

DUBLIN, September 23, 2021: Klas, a global leader in edge intelligence solutions, today announced achieving Common Criteria certification for both its VoyagerTDC10G and VoyagerSW12GG switches under National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) current collaborative Protection Profile for Network Devices (NDcPP).

Under the new CC certification, Klas has demonstrated the highest level of protection against the most sophisticated attempts of malicious actors who are targeting administration ports in order to gain access to networks. With the latest CC certification, government agencies, government contractors, and private-sector enterprises can trust that administrator identity, and administrative functions of device management and operations are safe no matter where the Klas suite of switching devices gets deployed.

As part of the NIAP CC validation process both the physical device and operating system KlasOS Fastnet, underwent rigorous validation in key areas of:

  • Cryptographic Operations: conformance with FIPS PUB 186-4.
  • Identification and Authentication: support for password-based and public-key-based authentication.
  • Password Protection: all passwords, pre-shared keys, symmetric keys, and private keys are protected from unauthorized disclosure.
  • Security Management and Auditable Events: Secure local and remote management, with detailed log events which include configuration changes to devices.

“The latest CC certification not only demonstrates our commitment to building ruggedized hardware solutions for the extreme edge, but validates that our software is at the forefront of security,” said Frank Murray, CTO of Klas. “Furthermore, by demonstrating our conformance with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Digital Signal Standard, we have proven that our cryptographic algorithms offer a high level of protection when it comes to securing administrator functionality in our switching technology.”

In adherence with NIST Cryptographic Algorithm Validation Program (CAVP), Klas has proven compliance in its cryptographic implementations. Validated capabilities include key management, random bit generation, encryption/decryption, digital signature, secure hashing, and key hashing features supporting high-level cryptographic protocols, including SSHv2.

Common Criteria certification is governed by ISO/IEC standards bodies and maintained by the NIAP according to internationally recognized security testing standards.
