Tampa Tribune Commends JCSE and Its Klas-Designed Tactical Communications System

3 December 2013

In a Tampa Tribune article released on November 11, one of Klas Telecom’s valued customers, the Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE), was praised for its superior, innovative, and cutting edge communications support to those within the highest levels of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Among the successes mentioned was the element’s rapid development of an Executive Voice Kit (EVK) for Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin Dempsey when his existing military communications proved insufficient.

JCSE was also commended for developing JBLOX, which is “the latest in tactical portable communications systems” and entirely composed of Klas Telecom hardware. The article described JBLOX as a “scalable, communications, mini-command center that provides support to small or large teams with secure voice, data, and video transmissions to any location around the world.” Air Force Staff Sergeant Joshua Falso, who works for JCSE, was quoted as saying, “This tactical communications kit is the next generation.”

JCSE’s JBLOX comprises Klas Telecom Voyager 8 cases (carbon fiber, airline carry-on size transit cases with removable, rackmountable chassis) populated with multiple, small form factor networking modules such as: the highly capable VoyagerESR routing and switching module, the VoyagerVM virtual server module, and the VoyagerSW14 and VoyagerSW24 Layer 2 switch modules.

JCSE is subordinate command to the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command (JECC) which is a component of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM).  For a list of JCSE deployments and joint-enabling equipment sets, see their mission statement PDF created by the USTRANSCOM JECC.
