JCSE’s JBLOX Embarks on USNS Spearhead’s Maiden Voyage to Support USSOUTHCOM Mission20 June 2014

On May 29, 2014 four members of the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command’s Joint Communications Support Element (JCSE)embarked on the Joint High Speed Vessel USNS Spearhead’s maiden voyage to participate in a USSOUTHCOM mission to build partner capacity with nations in the Caribbean and Central and South America.
“This mission will provide the team with an opportunity to deploy with units who regularly support humanitarian assistance/disaster relief operations,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Chance Geray, the commander of JCSE’s 1st Joint Communications Squadron, whose personnel are participating in this operation. “Ultimately, this deployment will enhance the knowledge and experience of our members in preparation for potential future missions.”
JCSE will employ JBLOX, one of their new equipment sets comprised of Klas Telecom Voyager networking modules and chassis, to support the teams as they go ashore. JBLOX, in combination with other JCSE equipment sets and the enhanced features of the USNS Spearhead, will allow JCSE to access the Defense Information Systems Network from the USNS Spearhead’s antennae and store full motion video from various unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to a video server located at JCSE headquarters at MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Florida. This will allow the operation’s teams to view full motion video feeds in real time.
The mission will last from May to October 2014 with planned visits to Belize, Colombia, Guatemala and Honduras.

The JBLOX (pictured here) utilizes the latest virtual technology to provide communications capabilities ranging from early entry to the establishment of a joint task force.
